Christmas Leftovers

Goodbye, tupperware of ham, asparagus, potatoes, and sauteed mushrooms. Hello, frittata.

I hate clowns.

Screenshot from one of the sample sales on HauteLook today. Why in HELL would anyone want this stuff in their home? I bet the eyes glow in dim light, too...

Giant Rickman

I would have walked out of the theater and onto the subway with this if I thought I could get away with it. It would look awesome in my foyer.

Frosting

I've been baking my way through the Alice's Tea Cup cookbook. Here I am putting the finishing touches on a four-layer lemon blueberry cake with vanilla buttercream frosting.

New Start

My first piece of furniture! And I don't look tiny because of spatial distortion -- the camera is 26 feet away from where I'm standing.

Three coats of Sephora by OPI's "Only Gold For Me" top coat. I can't stop staring at my nails. I feel like Beyonce.

9 years since

I've always loved my view of lower Manhattan from Jersey City, but this one is definitely... Poignant.

Jersey City Fridays

Seems like no matter where in jersey I am, we like our Fridays... Whether at TGI Fridays in Bridgewater or at Grove St at a Friday night block party (below).

I love not having to buy tomatoes in the summertime.

Dick Blick

I treated myself to new calligraphy pens, drawing pens, and India ink brush pens. I then tested out the goods using the alphabet, a freakily colored self-portrait, a big stylized A with flames coming out of it, and entirely too many little Matt Smith heads.

Bringing joy to the lab

Impractically Long

My Tom Baker scarf is finished, blocked, and hanging out the window to dry. I only crocheted half of the pattern -- it's too ridiculous for words as is.

Another year...

It's that time of year again. Just a refresher:

Peeps Brulee

Marshmallow Peep, meet my butane kitchen torch. (I highly recommend this -- the sugar turns into a candy shell and the marshmallow melts.)

The cherry blossoms are coming!

St. Patrick's Day Parade

I was trapped inside all day, but a dear friend was kind enough to accept a salute from my high school's pipes and drums band on my behalf.

One of the reasons I like what I do

I know almost no one other than me understands what this is, but the short story is that the layers "F1 TOP", "F1", and "MAM" are all parts if the endoplasmic reticulum, and the "MITO" layer consists of mitochondria.

This is the best separation between MAM and Mito that I've been able to produce so far.

Genitourinary Cancers Symposium

The main lecture room during the renal oral abstracts session. Courtesy of my new camera and ArcSoft Panorama Maker. You may have to click to expand to a visible size.

Why I'm glad I normally walk to work

This is ridiculous. I do not understand how or why people do this on a daily basis.

Snowricane

The plow does this every year. It won't melt until April. To give you a sense of scale, the top of the window to the right of the pile is 15 feet from the ground.

Commencement

This is an old one, but it's currently one image in a series that make up the slideshow for my desktop wallpaper.

Blame Indiana Jones 4

At the 68th St. stop. Made me laugh a lot. My flash blocked out the words, but it reads, "Second billing to Brendan Fraser? Boy is my career in the toilet."
